University of Graz


The University of Graz, founded in 1585, is a large public research university located in the Austria’s second-largest city. The university enrolls more than 30,000 students across its 6 colleges, including the Faculties of Arts and Humanities, Business, Economic and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. The city of Graz is a historic, well-preserved, and student-oriented city that houses more than 60,000 university students. It is conveniently located in Central Europe and offers easy travel to Vienna, Venice, Munich, and Prague.

UF students from all majors are welcome to apply. Knowledge of the German language is not required. The University of Graz offers a large number of English-taught courses.

Because UF and Uni Graz’s academic calendars do not align, this program is only available for the Spring semester (April-July) or entire academic year (September-July).

Credits/Courses

The University of Graz offers a large number of English-taught courses and German as a foreign language. Several course equivalencies have been pre-approved. Students should meet with Emma Frierson or Dr. Thomas Knight, as well as their major’s undergraduate coordinator, to identify appropriate courses. Explore the university course offerings.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition at the host school is waived for exchange students. Students participating in an exchange pay tuition directly to the University of Florida at their usual tuition rate. All financial aid, scholarships, and fellowships are applicable. Students incur no additional tuition cost while they are on an exchange.

Financial Aid

University of Florida students needing financial aid should apply through UF Student Financial Affairs. Normal eligibility for aid may be used while studying abroad as an exchange student. This includes using the Bright Futures scholarship and the Florida Pre-Paid College Plan.

Scholarships

For fall, spring, and academic-year scholarships administered by the University of Florida International Center, the deadlines for application are: early February for the academic year; and early October for the spring semester. Applications forms are available on the UF International Center website.

Health Insurance

Students will be billed for mandatory international health insurance which includes emergency medical assistance.

Fees

A $425 non-refundable service charge is assessed for students participating in single semester or Academic Year programs. (The $425 fee is refundable if student is not accepted to the program). This charge is due within 7 days of the application. Students will be charged regular UF tuition while participating in the program.
