As a student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, your major can take you anywhere. We encourage you to go Beyond120 and gain valuable experience outside the classroom and UF campus. The UF in London Beyond120 CLAS internship program offers CLAS students an opportunity to take courses in the humanities and social sciences, along with completing an internship. Internships in a wide variety of areas will help you develop the skills you learn as a Liberal Arts and Sciences student and apply them in the workplace. Major and/or minor courses are offered in Economics, English, History, International Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Sustainability Studies, and Women’s Studies. Pre-Law students are also encouraged to apply. Students with majors in colleges other than CLAS, or with interest in pursuing a Business major or minor, or taking Business courses should apply through the UF in London—Study and Intern program offered through the College of Business.

**Please note UF in London: Beyond120 CLAS Internship is a transfer credit program. Our office assists students from the application process through their return to campus in collaboration with FIE, our partner in London. Course registration and other program related activities are handled directly with FIE.**

Student Visas

As part of this program you will be required to obtain a UK student visa if you are a U.S. citizen (please ask if you have other citizenship). It is imperative that you submit all required information to FIE including a copy of your valid passport by the deadlines and as early as possible. Failure to do so may cause your visa to be approved after the program start date causing a delay in when you can arrive. Do not begin the student visa application until you have received instructions and supporting documentation from FIE. Part of the application process involves attending an in-person biometric appointment at an approved center. FIE does not recommend purchasing airfare until you have received your UK visa. Visa decisions and processing timelines are solely at the control of the UK government.

Housing

Students are housed in one of FIE’s residence halls located in beautiful Kensington. Accommodation type varies and is included in the cost of the program. Find out more about housing locations at FIE’s Housing in London page.

Activities

FIE’s student life team can help you make the most of your time outside of the classroom. Participate in optional extracurricular activities like a Harry Potter Studio tour, an evening at the theater, or a weekend in Wales. There’s always something exciting going on to help you experience British life!

Pre-Departure Information

Once your application is approved you will receive more information from FIE on the next steps. They’ll offer pre-departure emails and a pre-departure session before you go, including guidance on applying for the student visa.

Withdrawal Policy (subject to change)

To withdraw from your program, you must notify the program director, the UF International Center, and FIE in writing.

Students with a Pre-Approved application who cancel or withdraw within 90 days of their program’s start date may be fee liable. Your fee liability will depend on the amount of non-refundable payments UFIC has made on your behalf at the time of your cancellation/withdrawal. Please speak with your Study Abroad Advisor to determine your fee liability, as various factors can affect this amount (i.e. exact date of withdrawal, contractual obligations to program partners, etc.).

No refund will be given if a student is dismissed for misconduct (violation of UF Student Conduct Code, host institution conduct code, host country laws, alcohol/drug abuse, etc.). All refund requests will be reviewed by the Executive Director of UFIC.

UF will not refund airfare or other costs incurred as a result of program changes or cancellations. Students should keep this in mind if purchasing non-refundable tickets and should consider purchasing cancellation insurance to reduce risk. Non-refundable airfare should not be purchased until you have accepted FIE’s letter of offer and have received your UK student visa. We recommend purchasing “Cancel For Any Reason” travel insurance or refundable tickets.

For more information see the International Center’s website.
